Meet Rachel
Hey there, Mamas!
Mom to three (one with Jesus) precious kids, and happily married for 15 years. I’m the one always asking, “Says Who?” and “Why not?” Challenging the status quo is pretty much my superpower. My health journey began during my time in college. I started to realize the foods we had in our pantry weren’t the best for our well-being. So, I took the initiative to clean out my mom's pantry. It started with healthier food choices, and soon became aware that not only our food choices, but also the makeup and skincare products weren’t ideal either. From that moment, I began exploring new skincare and makeup brands that felt more aligned with my values.
After College I read "Master Your Metabolism" by Jillian Michaels' & "Natural Cures They Don’t Want You to Know About" by Kevin Trudeau. They were a real eye-opener and are still on my recommended reading list to this day!
At the time, I didn’t have children, but I did have two dogs, My beagle, was diagnosed with valley fever, which opened my eyes to some of the poor practices promoted in traditional veterinary care. For example, "healthy" dog food's such as Science Diet, that are recommend by Vets are about as nutritious as the food pyramid we were scammed with in the 1990's. Of course I had to question the logic behind giving the same rabies vaccine dosage to a 5lb chihuahua and a 100lb German shepherd!?! I couldn’t understand why the vet’s primary concern seemed to be ensuring my dog was up to date on vaccinations, rather than focusing on strengthening her immune system. This moment made me reflect on the bigger picture of health and wellness not only for my dog, but us too.
When I had my first child, I was faced with advice that seemed at odds with what my gut was telling me was best. The idea of giving a baby, just 2 months old and weighing under 7 pounds, five vaccinations in one visit didn’t sit well with me. I had already questioned similar practices for my pets, so I knew I needed to trust my instincts. That moment marked another turning point in my journey, leading me to question even more of the conventional advice I had received.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, I found myself speaking out about what I believed, even though I received pushback from friends and family. I was told I was wrong, that the experts knew best. But I’ve always trusted my intuition and stood firm in my convictions. While many of those people may not have agreed with me at the time, I’ve learned to trust myself, regardless of the opinions of others.
Over 18 years on this journey and I’m committed more than ever to bettering myself and my family as I grow in knowledge. I’ve learned so much on this path, and though it hasn't always been easy, I’m grateful for the growth and awareness it’s brought into my life. I continue to approach health with curiosity, compassion, and a desire to empower myself, my family and others.
Cant wait to meet all you Mamas! XOXO
